Pirate Party Enters the European Parliament – no more copyright
The Pirate Party has won a huge victory (7.1 percent of the votes) in the Swedish elections and is marching on to Brussels.
The Pirate Party is a political party in Sweden. It strives to reform laws regarding copyright & patents. The agenda also includes support for a strengthening of the right to privacy, both on the Internet and in everyday life, & the transparency of state administration
With their presence in Brussels, the Pirate Party hopes to reduce the abuses of power & copyright at the hands of the entertainment industries, and make those activities illegal instead. On the other hand they hope to legalize file-sharing for personal use.
