Hydroxycut is a nutritional supplement designed to help consumers lose weight (marketed by Iovate Health Sciences Inc.) Its primary ingredients include:

  • garcinia cambogia,
  • gymnema sylvestre,
  • chromium polynicotinate,
  • caffeine,
  • green tea.

Like many nutraceuticals, its efficacy has been questioned by the media.

On May 1, 2009, the FDA recalled some products bearing the Hydroxycut brand name after being linked to liver damage & death. It is sold at conventional retailers, such as GNC & Wal-Mart, online retailers and through direct television marketing.
