Hardware: Cluenet is a network of many different servers pooling resources. A single Cluenet account gets access to all the servers. Each server has different hardware and software. The servers are maintained by different administrators and are at different locations with different Internet connection speeds. New servers are being added all the time. Hardware of individual servers can be found at http://www.cluenet.org/wiki/index.php/Cluenet_Servers
Services/programs: Cluenet provides many different services including web hosting, email, distcc cluster, experimental personal VPSs, and IPv6 over TCP tunnels. The email includes POP3, IMAP4, webmail, authenticated SMTP, and all of the SSL/TLS variants. The programs available on individual shell servers vary, but collectively eggdrops, bncs, ircds, and other daemons are allowed. A good set of applications are provided on many servers including compilers and text email clients.
IRC access: Full IRC access is allowed from most Cluenet shell servers including IPv6 access and SSL libraries.
Background processes allowed: Yes. Individual Cluenet servers may allow different numbers of background processes, but the total is quite high.
Other info: Cluenet is a network of a bunch of different servers under different administrators tightly linked together. They are not individual shell services and carry no individual name other than the hostname. The domain name for all servers is *.cluenet.org. Cluenet is based around the community.
