Miss Oklahoma 2008 – Kelsey Cartwright
Kelsey Cartwright, the 20-year-old student at Oklahoma City University performed a lyrical dance of “I Want You to Need Me” during the talent aspect of the pageant. Kelsey began pageants two years ago as a senior in high school. She is excited that Miss Keystone Lake is her first title.
Two recent winners of the Oklahoma pageant have gone on to be crowned as Miss America — Jennifer Berry of Tulsa in 2005 & Lauren Nelson of Lawton in 2006. During the first preliminary rounds Wednesday, Taylor Byrne of Oklahoma City, competing as Miss Langston University, won the talent & newcomer talent awards. Michelle McCoy of Oklahoma City, competing as Miss Route 66, & Taylor Treat of Ada, competing as Miss Oklahoma State Fair, tied in the first-round swimsuit competition.
Kelsey – My mom (Billie Lee Buster) just told me about your great news. I have never met you but I have met your father. We are in Rochester, NY but will be rooting for Miss Oklahoma come January 24th, 2009. You are gorgeous. Good luck. – Donna
Kelsey, we are so proud of you and all you’ve accomplished. You look beautiful in these pictures. And what’s important is that you are beautiful on the inside. I know you will keep a good attitude and think for yourself.
