Trimethylxanthine ( Caffeine )
Caffeine was discovered by a German chemist, Friedrich Ferdinand Runge, in 1819.
Trimethylxanthine (a.k.a. Caffeine) is a bitter white crystalline xanthine alkaloid ( C8H10N4O ) that acts as a psychoactive stimulant drug & a mild diuretic (speeds up urine production) in humans and other animals.
Caffeine is a alkaloid organic substance found in tea, coffee, & kola nuts; it stimulates the heart and central nervous system.
Too much caffeine (more than 6 average cups of tea or coffee / day) can be detrimental to health.
