SEO este o forma de a promova siteurile in motoarele de cautare prin tehnici care ocolesc promovarea calitatatii informatiei si profita de slabiciunea motoarelor de cautare pentru anumite caracteristici. SEO putem sa-l definim si ca fiind un fel de promovare prin exploit , adica profitand de slabiciunea motoarelor de cautare in anumite privinte! Chiar Google spune clar sa nu apelam la servicii de SEO sau la firme care promit ca pot influenta in vre-un fel pozitia siteurilor intr-un motor de cautare. Efectul in timp poate fi nesatisfacator si de multe ori va fi negativ!
